You can start by taking little steps:
These steps include eleminate consuming "empty calorie" foods such as sweets, junk food, and deserts, soft drinks and alcholic beverages.
Take the first step, choose one food item like sodas and flavored drinks, and replace it with water.
Sodas contributed 7.1%, of total calories eaten. Sweets topped the list, followed by hambugers, pizza and snack foods. By contrast, fruits and vegetables made up only 10% of the diet for the average consumer.

Did you know that your waisline is a good indicator of diabetes risk?
A persons waist size is a stronger indicator of diabetes risk than the body-mass index (BMI), new research suggest John Hopkins scientists reviewed data from 27,270 men tracked over 13 years and put them into five groups according to their waist size, 884 of the men had diabetes!
As compared to those in the group with the smallest waists, 20-34 inches, men with large waist sizes were at least twice as likely to have diabetes.
Those with with the largest size, 40 inches and above, were up to 12 times more likely ot have Type 2 diabetes, the kind associated with obesity.
